oasis esteem
Highway Church has a member of staff, trained and assessed by the Oasis Trust to deliver Oasis Esteem based Personal Social Health and Citizenship Education (PSHCE) into schools in the local area. Oasis Esteem is a support to your school or youth service provision, specialising in delivering sexual relationship education.
Oasis Esteem uses a life skills approach to teach PSHCE, allowing for high student participation, in both small and large groups. This enables young people to be equipped with the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to make life choices.
ContentSex and Relationship Education
· We begin by asking the question 'What makes good relationships?'
· We address communication, respect, understanding, working with anger and managing conflict.
· We believe in the need to give young people the facts to make informed choices concerning sexual health including HIV/AIDS and other STIs.
Teaching Style· To use a life skills approach to teach PSHCE, allowing for high student participation, in both small and large groups. This allows young people to be equipped with the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to make life choices.
· Young people differ in terms of knowledge, values and experience, and so through clear boundaries we provide a safe environment allowing for dialogue when addressing sensitive issues.
